Naming The Self
Naming the Self is a multimedia art series created by Isabel Crespo and Loré Yessuff. The project aims to ponder and process the complexities of identity through the exploration of different artistic mediums. Their collaboration was born out of a shared appreciation for subtlety and self-reflection, and a need to connect intimately with themselves and those around them.
‘A Gathering’, the first part of this series, will be an immersive and thoughtful event, showcasing poems, essays, videos, music, and a collaborative zine, all created by Isabel and Loré
Isabel is a frequent collaborator with Spiderweb Salon, an art collective based in Denton, TX. She has made collages for their zines, performed poetry and music, and volunteered for events. Currently, she is working on an installation that will be on display at the DMA in Fall 2019, she will be included in their anthology, and she’ll be collaborating with Sarah Friday in a performance art piece in this year’s edition of #PLEASED.
Passarinho is a large ensemble that specializes in performing samba, baião, maracatú, and other traditional Brazilian repertoire.
Inanimate is a project that entertains the hypothetical point of view of inanimate object via compositions by both Isabel Crespo and Skyler Hill. The project will culminate in a split album featuring new music compositions with varied instrumentations to be released in 2019.
The Chewing Surface
The Chewing Surface is an international (US/Argentina/Norway) experimental jazz trio featuring Isabel Crespo on vocals and some compositions. They will be releasing their debut album in 2019.
