el rostro (des)cubierto by Isabel Crespo Pardo (Lobby Editions) is a collection of eight deeply intimate pieces weaving composition and improvisation together to explore self and sociality. The development of this music required embracing the challenge of patiently listening to one another, striving towards interdependence, & reveling in all that it requires.

desde aquí se veía el camino entreabierto
y desde la ventana se veía el sol de una tarde solemne

lo dicho echaba raíces
entrelazando comentarios cargados de dolor
entrelazando comentarios de lo más profundo

lo más profundo va iluminando el camino
y regando la tierra con ojos bañados de afecto
se conoció, por fin, al rostro descubierto

soñé
soñé con un grito
repetido, el grito era
repetido y rebosante
un anuncio como
trémolo de cristal
reflejándolo todo

aquí aquí
quisiera no caer y alzar la mirada para hablar
y estar aquí

recuerdo
la montaña celeste con zacate azul
sentada aquí entre senderos se escuchan
palabras escondidas en la brisa
la llovizna leve se acumula entre mis pestañas
y me impide ver
tengo la cabeza entre nubes
sigue subiendo

la línea será
creo la línea que trazo
línea discreta trazada
tras delinearla dispuesta
puesta a la vista la línea
algo describe la línea
desde la línea marcada
cada detalle la línea será

curva de puntos fijos
curva que continúa
frágil la curvatura

miro a la diagonal, algo denotará
siento la inclinación, infinitesimal
cruzo entre línea y luz
cambio de parecer
perdida en el azar

mido la implicación, algo delatará
busco una conclusión, proceso irregular
salgo del marco actual
quedo en calculación con tanto por aclarar

watering the earth
that day, born out of uncertainty
and from here you could the semi-occluded path
and from the window, the afternoon’s solemn sun

roots sprouting from
statements interlaced, pain-laden
statements interlaced, deeply spoken

and the depth itself illuminating the path
and watering the earth with affected eyes, dripping
the uncovered face was finally known

i dreamt
i dreamt of an outcry
recurring, the outcry was
recurring and overflowing
an announcement
a crystalized tremolo
reflecting it all

I wish to remain upright and lift my gaze

the sky-blue mountain with its blue grass
sitting between hills and
noticing hidden words in the breeze
light rain gathers on my eyelashes
obstructing my view
my head, nestled in the clouds
is still ascending

a curve made of fixed points
a continuous curve

i glance at the diagonal, it must denote something
feel the infinitesimal inclination
traverse line and light
change my mind
lost in all that is fortuitous
where will they find me?

i measure the implication, it must reveal something
