iiisa is the electroacoustic solo project of NYC-based latinx improviser-composer, isabel crespo pardo. Activating intimate poemsongs, field recordings, and familial chatter from their home in Costa Rica, iiisa creates memory portals in hopes of offering solace. Though solo in practice, the project seeks to interrupt the sense of 'individual' and instead propose the notion of self as a constellation of shifting presences. With a “pliable and fearless voice” (I Care If You Listen), they deftly guide the listener through ephemeral vignettes.
Their work has been presented by Roulette Intermedium, Big Ears Festival, and Pioneer Works, and their debut album will release in 2026.
